Reviews for ‘River Falls’
Excellent work! For a long time I have been an avid fan of fingerstyle guitar, following closely the likes of Andy McKee, Callum Graham, Don Ross, Antoine Dufour, Tommy Emmanuel, and many, many others. I also play guitar and know just how difficult these pieces are to play. There is also a difference between great mastery of guitar and producing music that is both complicated to perform AND beautiful. Steve Gibb does both here with River Falls. Highly recommended from me.

Acoustic genius! I am simply blown away, not only by the song itself, but also by his professionalism and polished guitar technique – absolutely amazing! Bravo Steve

Superb guitar work! First, this is a truly beautiful piece. The guitar work is clean and precise and some very tricky playing sounds effortless. The tone of the guitar is stunning and drew me in along with the mastery of the instrument. The recording quality is pure, without a lot of studio gimmicks or “tricks.” All in all, I loved this piece and enjoyed how well it was performed.

Immediately I start listening to this wonderful piece, I can imagine the cool water of a river passing by and seeing myself get into it and follow it’s path, where stones get into the way, but doesn’t seem to disturb it’s flow. This can only be achieved with an outstanding performance by Steve Gibb on the guitar, where he masters with technique but also brings the imagery into his music, and with both he created a wonderful and lovely song.
I love your style of picking and your sound.

Music that restores the soul and the mind.
Beautiful song.

This is excellent finger-style guitar playing very much in the tradiition of John Renbourne, Bert Jansch, Davey Graham and Adrian Legg. If this track is anything to go by, Steve is a composer of beautiful melodies and sadly this seems to be a dying art these days. This is music for relaxation and dreaming.
3 seconds into the song… nice!… 10 seconds… gorgeous! This is a beautiful piece. I love the dance of the melody. It brought me into a happy and peaceful place.
Such a sensation is given to me by this excellent musician.

Well this is one of those Fridays that started out with a cup of coffee and clicking on this song by Steve Gibb, indeed a great way to start a busy day. A lovely song and well executed finger pickin’ throughout, nice job Steve.

Tastefully tasteful. Very musical indeed. What a lovely way to start any day.
Simply beautiful acoustic guitar. If you like listening to acoustic guitar tunes that are really well played then you should enjoy River Falls by Steve Gibb. As soon as he started playing, I was taken back to those legendary guitarists of the late 1960s, guitarists like Bert Jansch, John Renbourne and John Martyn.

Excellent guitar work and composition. This composition told me a story. The ending sounded like rain against the window. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Some beautiful guitar craftsmanship! As a fellow guitarist, there is much to admire, respect and appreciate in this beautifully crafted piece of guitar artistry. A very crisp, clear production, with lovely intricate arpeggio finger work. Some delightfully mellow, tranquil and almost dream-like and soporific chord sequences that all help to create a reflective and meditative mood tinged with joy and wonder. There is much tranquillity and peace and the jazz chords that arrive helps to change the mood with a little discord until tranquillity returns. This is an outstanding piece of instrumental work.
GREAT! Beautiful guitar playing! Very pleasant, peaceful. Would be great for film scoring!
Beautiful! Sweet and sensitive, I was immediately drawn into a skillfully executed instrumental seamlessly played on acoustic guitar. Steve Gibb’s style and grace is clear and precise. His crafting of this composition includes all of the parts and transitions necessary to create a truly professional product. I applaud his obvious effort, for a song this perfect could only come to be through hard work, practice and discipline. Highly recommended.

As I sit here listening to your instrumental I am thinking this could be a soundtrack or part of a soundtrack in a movie. Very light and free is the feeling I experience as I listen, like exploring the woods barefooted as a child.
Beautiful guitar playing, I can see this as background music for a movie. All in all it was very pleasant to my ears.
Great finger pickin’ on that guitar man, and the song flows splendidly from start to finish taking the listener on a special journey.

Muy bonita! Precioso tema Emily y perfecta ejecución de Steve Gibb. El sonido de esta canción relaja y más en estos días de calor. Gracias Steve por regalarnos este bonita canción.
Great acoustic finger style tune! I love to hear guitar instrumentals by people who obviously know how to play and Steve certainly does. The tune takes some nice paths and there are 2 or 3 very catchy refrains too. This is the sort of tune I can happily play over and over again whilst I doodle about on my own guitar with some melody lines. Really nice feel, well recorded too with crisp notes and a warm tone to it. Liked this a lot.

Like a velvety improvisation. A very beautiful musical journey. A walk in complex musical trails with a light, almost improvisational mood.
Very pretty guitar work – I like the ebb and flow of the melody and the easy listening feel. I am a big fan of this finger picking style.
Nicely played! This one is certainly an inspiring and beautifully played piece for acoustic guitar. Very emotive and hopeful composition with an excellent performance, and a skillfully recorded sound. For those who like relaxing and optimistic music, this track is a great download to have.

Beautiful! This is excellent, relaxing playing.

Lovely finger style guitar tune. This lovely instrumental guitar piece starts with a rolling melody before settling into the main chord progression. The tune changes direction midway before returning to the main section and finally resolves with some cool harp like harmonics. The mood is very lyrical, sometimes wistful then a driving fingerstyle. It is reminiscent of the guitar style of the great Tommy Emmanuel. Lovely tune.

PRINCETON LAMENT
It was certainly nice to find a gem of a recording here, Steve Gibb’s guitar playing is excellent, with wonderful intonation and flowing melody. Nice finger work throughout the song and I love how the music flows. Nice work Steve.
Beautiful! Really enjoyed this cut. It reminds me of a sunrise or a sunset on a nice breezy evenings when I used to live in the southwest and reminds me of the skies of many colors. Steve, this is a soothing tune with a great acoustic sound that had me listen to it a few times with speakers cranked-good work!
Very pleasant and soothing… I have images of nature as I listen. In today’s frenetic world, this music is a balm. The musicianship is professional and sounds well-trained. Thank you for these calming sounds.
This is a gorgeous piece of acoustic guitar music. It is indeed classically Celtic, soaring and melodic; peaceful and flowing; radiant and soothing. It evokes a sense of the pastoral, where old Pagan traditions are observed.

Beautiful guitar intro, I really like the tone and the chord pattern . Very relaxing song and your style sounds effortless the way you play it.
This is a very nice mellow tune. Well done, you play very well and I enjoyed listening to it. Keep up the great work and thanks for giving the world something wonderful to listen to. I can tell you play from the heart. On a scale of 1-10 here is my 10.
Desperta os 5 sentidos! Eu realmente amei!
Awaken the 5 senses! I really loved it! A melody that really portrays a wail, is really a masterpiece. Such a lovely medieval sounding piece. Switches between minor and major so your mind and heart are just soaring and dipping all the time chasing the melody. Very accomplished and fine instrumental
Some people play guitar and strum and stroke it to death. I love your style cause you are honest about your craft and have a great touch.
What a nice sound Steve! Your acoustic guitar evoques such melancholic sweetness that reach my heart and fill it with beautiful longing. Though it has nothing to do with my south american roots, this celtic music is like a caress to my soul,
A melancholy walk through the Scottish countryside… Beautifully and flawlessly played on an acoustic guitar.
